Now in its fourth year, this unique partnership gives entrants the chance to win the first prize of $8000 and second prize of $2000, to exhibit their artwork in a respected commercial gallery with good sales potential, and further, the possibility of publishing the winning artwork on a wine label (if deemed suitable) for a limited edition wine release, made exclusively by Mount Eyre. With this in mind, we are now accepting entries for the Mount Eyre Art Prize 2012, held at Rex-Livingston Art Dealer, 21 June–15 July 2012. The First Prize winner in 2011, NEIL TAYLOR (NSW), has enjoyed notable coverage from the prize exhibition and of course, the benefits of the $8000 prize money. The Second prize, awarded to CLAUDE JONES (NSW) also experienced further exhibition success in 2011 with acceptances to numerous art prize exhibitions in NSW. Other entrants for 2009, 2010 and 2011, including MATT BROMHEAD, TANYA STUBBLES and ANNABELLE JOSSE have enjoyed additional exhibition opportunities and sales of their works through the gallery’s client base. Mount Eyre combines a European family tradition of winemaking with a modern Australian approach to wine. From their Greco-Roman roots, the Tsironis and Iannuzzi families have an unbroken involvement in wine extending back decades, tilling their vines and offering wine to friends and visitors alike. Mount Eyre have always cultivated the relationship between wine and art, initially as collectors and in label design, and now through this art prize. Rex-Livingston Art Dealer works with professional emerging to mid career artists, through to investment artists such as; Sir Sidney Nolan, Albert Tucker, David Boyd and Arthur Boyd amongst others. The gallery’s represented artists include: David van Nunen, Peter Cameron, Trevor ‘Turbo’ Brown, Mimi Jaksic-Berger, the Silicon Artists (Josh Bullen and Catherine Conceicao), Josef Marzi and Sokquon Tran among others. The Director, David Rex-Livingston, has over twenty five years experience in the art market including; formal Art Practice, Postgraduate in Professional Art Studies from COFA, Sydney, Graduate Diploma in Art Education, Nedlands Campus,Perth and Bachelor of Art (Fine Art), Curtin University, Perth.
