Baptism of the Shadows

Artist Statement:

Through the process of painting, my concerns are based on endless variations of silence, absence and becoming, presented as a continuously fragmented narrative.

Each of my paintings are therefore like fractured paragraphs of an untold story, like a film still, removed from the sequence of the entire film; the viewer is only allowed one frame in order to evaluate and comprehend the infinite possibility of narrative that surrounds each painting.

I create each body of work as a chapter from an evolving novel, story or film. There are, as with any story, vital pieces of information missing, yet their absence is present in the stillness of each painting.

A narrative evolves with each body of work, a narrative without a beginning nor an end.

I paint the infinitely untold.

I paint what cannot be seen.

I paint the presence of absence.
