Resurgence
My style of art incorporates naive symbolic narratives, yet it is sophisticated, complex in composition and multi-layered.
The suburban obsession to change the order of natural forms of trees and shrubs fascinates me.
Topiary, in its simplest geometric form, hedges and trees of all shapes and sizes, enhance gardens of almost every home.
Semi-rural landscapes draw me in, I love the stark contrast of land meets sky, the ever-changing light, textured foliage, man-made forms combined with the natural environment.
These are sources of endless material for me to study and take delight in reproducing in their lowest common denominator, I strip them of detail and cover them with extreme light and dark.
I see my art as geometric, a juxtaposition of semi-abstract shapes. My work evolves from very simple lines and then layers and layers of thin glazing. Slowly the construction happens, there is a play back and forth between light and dark areas and after several applications the richness becomes apparent.
